Adopt

Final steps include sending a video home tour, completing a brief on-demand training to educate the adopter on what to expect when bringing a new dog home, and finalizing the adoption!

Adoption Policies & Requirements

The following conditions must be met by potential adopters in order to be considered for approval:

  • Primary applicant must be 21 or older.

  • Dogs in the home must be up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and on heartworm and flea & tick prevention in order to receive an approved application.

  • Cats in the home must be up to date on their rabies vaccination.

  • Applications with incomplete information will not be processed.

  • After receiving your application, we will conduct a veterinarian check (as applicable), a background check, and a landlord check (as applicable).

  • You must have an approved application in order to be put in touch with an animal's foster family.

  • An approved application does not guarantee a certain dog, and we do not adopt on the same day as the meet and greet (unless there are extenuating circumstances)

  • All potential adopters are expected to complete at least one meet and greet. Certain animals may require more than one meet and greet depending on their specific needs. All residents of the home, including pets, are required to be at the meet and greet.

  • There will be a home visit for all adoptions. This may be done in-person or virtually, as determined by Olyver & Co.

  • Olyver & Co strives to ensure the best possible matches between our animals and their forever homes. While we consider all applications carefully, we may, in some cases, decide that a particular adoption is not in the best interest of the pet or the applicant. Please understand that all adoption decisions are made with the utmost care and are final and confidential.

  • If you are going on vacation or moving, please apply after you return or when settled into your new home.

  • Please make sure ALL individuals residing in your home are on board with adopting a pet BEFORE you apply. This includes roommates.

  • We do not operate as a first come, first served rescue. If there are multiple applications for the dog you applied for, regardless of the order received, we will choose the home that is the best fit for each dog.

Application Process

Please note: An approved application means that you have passed the initial screening process and may proceed to the following steps. It is not a guarantee of adoption.

Apply

All potential adopters are required to complete an online adoption application. Your application will be processed within 10 business days. Be sure to check your spam folder for automated messages from our adoption platform!

Review

We will review your application and complete necessary checks. Upon approval, we will schedule a virtual meeting with all adults in the household and the foster to answer questions, tell you more about the dog, and ensure a good fit.

Meet & Greet

If all parties agree the dog is a good fit for the applicants, a meet and greet will be scheduled with all members of the applying family, including pets.
