Adoption Requirements

The following conditions must be met by potential adopters in order to be considered for approval:

- All current pets must be up to date on vaccines (dogs: rabies, DHPP; cats: rabies) and spayed/neutered.

- Dogs must be on heartworm and flea & tick prevention. If renting, the dog must be allowed on the property and not be a restricted breed or size.

- We do not alter paperwork to list a different breed, size, etc. or adopt out a dog as an emotional support animal without proper documentation from a medical professional. All adults in the household must pass a background check.

Application Process

Please note: an approved application means that your have passed the initial screening process and may proceed to the following steps, which may include being contacted by the foster home. It is not a guarantee of adoption. The animal you are interested in may have more than one application and may have already found his/ her forever home before you are able to meet.

1. Submit your adoption application.
2. Your application will be processed within 10 business days. Please be sure to check your spam folder; automated messages from the ShelterLuv platform are sometimes flagged as spam.
3. Upon application approval, we will set up a virtual screen with all of the adults in the household and the foster to answer questions and tell you more about the dog you've applied for to ensure a good fit.
4. If both parties agree it's a good fit, a meet and greet will be scheduled with all members of the family, including pets.
5. Send a video home tour of the interior and exterior of your home.
6. Complete a short 15 minute on demand training that covers what to expect when bringing a new dog home.
7. Finalize the adoption!
